Our Building

After 40 years, the Ottawa Armenian community has finally found a home! In August 2019, Saint Mesrob Armenian Church of Ottawa purchased the former Carlsbad Springs Community Centre from the City of Ottawa. Located near Highway 417 (exit 104 – Anderson Road), the 6 acre lot has a 2600 square feet single story building.

The building is a true “Hay Doun” (Armenian home). All Ottawa-based Armenian organizations will be able to freely use this building. The aim is to use the building as:
– a place of worship (Church);
– a place for Armenians to gather (community centre);
– a place where we can project Armenian culture (cultural centre).

The Building is now being renovated to transform it into a home for the Ottawa Armenian community. The planned renovations include:

Phase 1 – Fall 2020
– Replace soffits and fascia
– Renovate washrooms
– Add universal washroom
– Renovate main entrance and hallway
– Renovate kitchen
– Install flooring in main entrance
– Install security system
Estimated cost: $106,000

Phase 2 – 2021
– Renovate two main halls
– Replace windows
– Enhance wall insulation
– Install collapsible wall to separate the two halls
– Create storage, office, altar
– Install flooring in two main halls
Estimated cost: $84,000
